Shortlisting panel at work

December 11, 2018

The Quantum Shorts festival called for films inspired by quantum physics and the universe answered – at least, filmmakers all over the world responded with their movies. We closed to entries with 176 submissions from 40 different countries.

So what happens now? We are reviewing the films for their link to quantum physics, storyline, and quality of filming. Our shortlisting panel will sift out no more than ten finalists, each no longer than five minutes, that tell stories with a quantum twist or bring artistry to interpretations of quantum physics.

We will be back to announce the shortlist in early 2019. In the meantime, to see where quantum ideas have taken people before, you can visit our film and fiction archives. We look forward to sharing with you soon how filmmakers have ventured into the quantum world anew. You can also follow us on Twitter and Facebook for more news from the quantum world and the intersection of science and culture.

A big thank you to the filmmakers who entered this year. We are always inspired by the diversity and creativity of ideas on show as people respond to the wild concepts of quantum physics and wide prospects of quantum technologies.
